An historically diverse town that's one of the fastest growing communities in DuPage County, the village of West Chicago is conveniently located at the intersections of Illinois Routes 38, 59 and 64. Its current population is 25,690. It offers award-winning schools, a growing industrial park, and plentiful shopping and restaurants. A large number of civic groups and cultural organizations warmly welcome newcomers into the community. A number of excellent public schools and a variety of private and parochial schools serve the students of West Chicago. Students benefit from school curriculums that ensure academic success, award-winning faculty and staff and a wide range of extracurricular programs. West Chicago students are served by four school districts, encompassing eight elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools. The West Chicago Public Library is located in a 27,000-square-foot facility on West Washington Street. As a member of the DuPage Library System and ILLININET, the library is a part of an informational network that provides access to additional materials through interlibrary loans, reference backup, and reciprocal borrowing. West Chicago has preserved its Old Heidelberg and East Washington neighborhoods, plus its historic downtown Turner Junction Historic District.
