An affluent DuPage County suburb that boasts outstanding shopping, excellent schools and convenient access to major roadways, the village of Oak Brook is also the headquarters of the McDonald's Corporation, Ace Hardware, Blistex, and Lions Clubs International It is located 18 miles west of downtown Chicago; the Eisenhower Expressway, East-West Tollway and Tri-State Tollway are nearby. Oak Brook's housing stock is a mixture of older historic homes, including Victorians and Prairie-style homes, and luxurious estate homes, gated communities, family-friendly subdivisions, newly-constructed townhomes, condominiums and apartment complexes. For single-family homes, prices range from $400,000 to over $4 million dollars. Since 1962, Oak Brook Center, located at the intersection of Illinois Route 83 and Cermak Road (22nd Street), has attracted shoppers from throughout the area. The beautifully landscaped, open-air shopping mall houses upscale department stores such as Macy's, Nordstrom and Lord \& Taylor, as well as smaller shops such as Tiffany \& Company, Mont Blanc, and many more. Dining options include everything from McDonald's to the upscale Clubhouse restaurant. Oak Brook Center also hosts a variety of events throughout the year including the Father's Day Classic Car Show, a July crafts exhibit and a Labor Day Weekend Fine Arts Show. Oak Brook has a wealth of recreational opportunities. The Oak Brook Park District currently owns and maintains six parks. Central Park is the largest park and is home to a racquet club, gazebo, family recreation center and aquatic center. The Premier Fitness Club features weight-resistance equipment, free weights, an indoor track, racquetball courts, and a selection of biking, stair-climbing and rowing machines. Oak Brook is also known for its regularly scheduled polo matches, which take place on Sunday evenings during the summer at the Village of Oak Brook's Sports Core, and feature professional, international polo players who take to the field for quick-paced play. The Oak Brook Sports Core is maintained by the Village, encompasses 269 acres of green space, and is also home to the Oak Brook Bath \& Tennis Club and the Oak Brook Golf Club, an 18-hole golf course. In their spare time, villagers can also get some exercise on the seven-mile bike and fitness path that winds through Oak Brook's Central Park, as well as many of the Oak Brook residential subdivisions. The modern and sunlight-filled Oak Brook Public Library provides materials and activities for all age groups, and visitors from the Chicago area attend Broadway musicals, comedies and concert events in the award-winning Drury Lane Theatre in nearby Oakbrook Terrace.
