Melrose is a small city offering an appealing mixture of commercial and industrial activity and suburban residential atmosphere. The community that covers just under 5 square miles is conveniently located 7 miles north of Boston and much of the urban landscape that surrounds Melrose is buffered by the "green belt" of preserved open land and recreation parks. Public transportation directly to Boston's North Station is available at two commuter rail stations in Melrose: Wyoming Hill and Cedar Park.
