Located in Eastern Baltimore County, just outside White Marsh, Perry Hall is a bustling suburb that only continues to grow. Originally founded as the estate of Harry Dorsey Gough, a wealthy Maryland Planter with British roots, Perry Hall consisted of 1,000 acres of rural land. As the founder of the Methodist Church, Gough made Perry Hall an important place in American religious history. Following the Civil War, the Gough Family estate was sold to land developers who subdivided the 1,000 acre property into smaller lots which made new homes to immigrant farmers. Perry Hall remained a rural farming community until World War II, when thousands of families flocked to the new housing developments transforming the area into the suburban oasis it is today.
Residents of Perry Hall enjoy the benefits of attending schools in one of Maryland's top public school districts. As part of the Baltimore County Public Schools, students attend schools including Gunpowder, Chapel Hill, and Perry Hall Elementary Schools, Perry Hall Middle, and Perry Hall High School. As the population in Perry Hall continues to grow, new schools are being planned and current schools are undergoing state of the art renovations.
Located within a short drive of both Towson and White Marsh, Perry Hall residents never have shortage of things to do. Shoppers flock to Towson for its four floors of retail shops including Nordstrom, Crate and Barrel, and Macy's, while the Avenue at White Marsh is popular for its wide array of restaurants, movie theaters, and clothiers. In addition, the Perry Hall and White Marsh Recreational Councils sponsor a number of sports clubs for children and adults alike. Perry Hall is also home to a number of scenic parks, including Gunpowder Falls State Park, Honeygo Run, and Jerusalem Village, which exhibit it historic roots as a rural hamlet.
