Long known for its wealth of stores along the famed Governor Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie is truly a shopper's paradise. In addition to their old fashioned Town Center with an outdoor skating rink, Glen Burnie boasts three popular malls: Marley Station, Glen Burnie Mall, and Harundale Plaza. Only minutes away, avid shoppers can also explore the new Arundel Mills and Annapolis malls.
While Glen Burnie is easily accessible to Baltimore via I-695, public transportation is also a great option for many commuters. The Light Rail train, which spans all the way from Hunt Valley in Northern Baltimore County, to the Baltimore Washington International Airport, has several stops in Glen Burnie, making it a convenient means of transportation to many parts of the state.
Glen Burnie, with its active neighborhood association, is a close knit community, despite its large size. Every year, many residents attend the annual Glen Burnie Neighborhood Improvement Association carnival in addition to other seasonal events.
As part of the Ann Arundel County School District, Glen Burnie has a number of elementary, middle, and high schools within the town, allowing teachers to keep their class sizes small. Anne Arundel Community College, which offers Associate Degrees and other opportunities for continuing education, is also based in Glen Burnie.
Most properties in Glen Burnie are single family homes, although new condominiums and townhouses are also available. Cozy cape cods, ranch houses, and two story traditional homes make up the Glen Burnie cityscape, but new constructions with an emphasis on luxury design, brick facades, and Palladian windows are also available.
