Suwanee is located in Gwinnett County and is home to more than 12,000 residents. The town is located 30 miles north of Atlanta and is accessibly by Interstate 85. The city's amenities as well as it's convenience to Atlanta make it a great community to make home. The city was recently named a City of Excellence by the Georgia Municipal Association and Georgia Trend magazine.
Suwanee is located between Gwinnett Place Mall and the Mall of Georgia providing residents with access to infinite retail establishments. Dining and entertainment options area also abundant. Outlet malls and charming antique shops are also convenient to the area.
The area offers residents the beauty of a suburb with a gorgeous natural landscape. Residents will appreciate the variety of recreational options on the Chattahoochee River. Area parks offer families a great retreat from the hustle and bustle. The city is currently developing two new parks. Town Center Park will be a 10-acre urban park and community gathering place while Suwanee Creek Park will function as a passive natural recreation area and provide access to the Suwanee Creek Greenway. The Suwanee Creek Greenway is a hard-surface, multipurpose trail that meanders through four miles of wooded areas, wetlands, and wildlife habitat.
The city's historic buildings have been well preserved and visitors and residents will enjoy viewing grand Victorian and regional farm-style home in Suwanee's Old Town area, where the historic commercial area is located as well. The Old Town area remains much as it must have appeared nearly 100 years ago. Some buildings in the area were reconstructed after an 1881 fire and others were built in the early 1900s.
Students in Suwanee will attend schools in the Gwinnett County Public Schools system which is the largest in Georgia.
