The city of Bowdon is a community-centered town with a keen focus on its residents. When Bowdon recently broke ground on a new park, city officials opened up the naming process to the residents and welcomed everyone to submit their ideas. The Bowdon Recreation Department encourages community sports and offers lots of opportunities for area youth to get involved and learn the value of team work and sportsmanship. Whether it's baseball, basketball or track and field, there's an activity that every Bowdon child can get involved in. Additionally, the area has lots of activities for seniors as well. One of Bowdon's longtime relatives bequest his estate for the construction of the new building. Sewell Memorial Library as well as The Shelnutt House Museum (sometimes called the Shelnutt/Wessinger House) which is considered to be the oldest house in Bowdon.
