Hey Seattleites… Are You Looking For A New 5K Fun Run Challenge?
Summer in Seattle isn’t only about lounging around catching great happy hours, strolling along Alki or the Waterfront – although, I must admit that sounds pretty nice right about now. Summer is also a great time to get outside and experience one of the many 5k “mud runs” and truly test your grit! These mud runs have been steadily gaining popularity over the years, making it easier than ever to partake in one in a city near you. They also vary greatly in intensity levels allowing the novice beginner to merely go out and have a blast in the mud or the hardcore extremist to push themselves to their breaking point.
This past weekend, my girlfriend and I experienced our first mud run by hitting the road 3 hours south to Washougal, WA to compete in the Spartan Race, which boasts the saying ‘You’ll Know At The Finish Line”. Spartan Race now introduces varying levels from a 4 mile/12-15 obstacle course all the way to the extreme 48 hour Death Race, which boasts a daunting 90% fail rate! We had an absolute blast pushing ourselves through the challenging course - jumping over 4, 6, 8, 10-foot walls, army-crawling under barbed wire (quite painful!), 30-foot rope climb, spear throw and many more obstacles!
Next month, my brothers and I, who are co-owners of Anytime Fitness in Capitol Hill are working on growing Team Anytime Fitness to represent our community in the Warrior Dash in North Bend, WA on July 21st and 22nd. We’re offering Boot Camp classes every Wednesday and Friday to help prepare and build our team camaraderie. So, in between looking for a home for sale in Seattle, why not carve out some time to connect with your friends, family and community to see what you’re really made of? Only four weeks and counting until the Warrior Dash! It’s time to crank up your summer activity… get outside and get active!
