Getting the permits to make an addition to your Stockton home listing

When making additions or renovations to your Stockton real estate listing, be sure that you're adhering to the procedures established by the city's Permit Center.
Permits are necessary for any renovation involving the construction of an entire new building within the Stockton area. They must also be obtained when you're adding swimming pools, decks more than 30 inches above grade, retaining walls and patio covers. Additionally, if you are making any changes that go beyond simple cosmetic adjustments, such as installing heating equipment or replacing a roof, you must also receive permission from the city.
To get the offical OK, you'll need to complete the building permit application provided on the Permit Center's website and submit it directly to the office. The cost of this will vary and is contingent upon the type of construction and the project size that you're considering. An estimation calculator is available online, but the figure you come up with may differ from the city's official assigned cost.
Once you've submitted the application, paid all the necessary fees and received your permit, you can begin work. Start construction within 180 days of the permit's issuance, as it will expire after that date.
