Summer events you can't miss in Richmond

The 2012 Watermelon Festival will mark its 29th anniversary, making it a true Richmond tradition and one of the largest one-day festivals in the state. There are all kinds of Independence Day events around Richmond, and one of the most patriotic is the Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration at Meadow Farm Museum. Located at 3400 Mountain Road in Glen Allen, the festivities include crafts, rubber duck races and magic shows for the kids, and some of the best funnel cakes you might ever taste.
