Portland hospital ranks high in quality

Parents of children requiring regular medical care may want to consider buying one of the homes for sale in Portland. This West Coast city is home to high-quality hospitals. One in particular, the Oregon Health and Science University, is ranked nationally in one adult and six pediatric specialties, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Additionally, the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital was one of 80 medical facilities that ranked in at least one of the 10 specialties analyzed for the 2012 to 2012 Best Children’s Hospitals list, the news source reports. These pediatric categories included cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, neonatology, neurology and neurosurgery and orthopedics.

In addition to achieving specialty rankings, the hospital also attained a high customer satisfaction ranking. According to the source, many U.S. hospitals are required to survey discharged patients about their experiences.

An estimated 77 percent of respondents that visited the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital said they would recommend it to friends or family. This is above the state average of 72 percent and the national average of 69 percent.
