City of Phoenix is undergoing a redistricting process
It’s that time again – time for redistricting. According to the city of Phoenix, the U.S. Constitution requires residents of each and every state to be counted every 10 years to determine how it will be represented in elections as well as taxes. On a more local basis, it could change your local political representation and which council district you live in. Therefore, if you are politically inclined, consider searching the MLS listings in Phoenix for homes that are in a district you prefer.
There are currently eight council districts that make up the greater Phoenix metro area.
The city created a plan of action that is intended to ease the process for everyone involved. Broken up into five phases, the redistricting process started in December 2011 and is expected to be finished sometime between fall of 2012 and January 2013.
If you are interested in the redistricting process or have a concern, you may attend one of the public meetings and submit your ideas or comments. If attendance is an issue, you may write in to the redistricting website.
