Philadelphia's Children's Hospital claims top spot in recent national poll

When you make up your mind to purchase real estate in Philadelphia, PA, you might want to make sure you're investing in property near the city's best hospitals. While getting sick may not be your top priority when you move to the City of Brotherly Love, you should take the time to consider how living within a few short blocks of the city's finest hospitals could prove beneficial down the line.

In a recent U.S. News & World Report, 21 of Philadelphia's hospitals were listed as some of the best in the entire country. The city is home to superior medical facilities, and regular praise continues to encourage new homebuyers to move into the area and take advantage of the quality practices.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, located on 34th Street and Civic Center Boulevard, captured the highest ranking out of those featured from the Philly area. It tied with Boston Children's Hospital for the top spot nationwide, so if you're moving to Philadelphia with your family, you might want to consider purchasing property close to CHOP.

In the medical facility, the highest ranking health care services were cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology. The hospital's second-tier services were listed as cardiology and heart surgery, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

"I could not be prouder of our employees and the extraordinary care they provide to our patients every day," said Dr. Steven M. Alschuler, CEO of CHOP, to the news source. "I am honored to work alongside them."

When you begin to look at neighborhoods near CHOP, you might want to consider the for-sale properties in the adjacent neighborhood of Fairmount. This community is an up-and-coming region of Philadelphia and is next to the large West Fairmount Park. In addition to living close to a vast public park, the homes for sale in the area go for an average of $323,811, according to ZipDataMaps.

Philadelphia might be the perfect city for you and your loved ones, but you need to know what you want to get out of your time living in the metro area. If you are interested in taking advantage of superior medical facilities, moving to Fairmount may be the ideal community for you.
