Orange County homes in high demand

Real estate in Orange County is one of the most popular destinations for homebuyers in California. Between the many beautiful seaside towns such as Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach and the wide array of recreational opportunities, this desirable area can be considered a little slice of Southern California heaven.

According to the Orange County Register, homes for sale in Orange County have been especially popular during May 2012. The news outlet explains the inventory report from ReportsOnHousing.com, a real estate trends resource, states the local housing market is booming at a seven-year high.

Although housing reports slipped during the second half of May, the source notes the late May market was still at a higher demand than it has been in the past seven years. Steve Thomas, a California real estate expert and developer of Reports on Housing, explains the slight dip in May is expected for this time of year due to the transition between the spring and summer market and the increase in busy summer activities such as graduations and vacations.

The average time a home is on the market in Orange County as of May 24 was 1.57 months. Homebuyers interested in moving to the area should act fast before the summer sun sets and the seaside homes sell.
