Three NYC hospitals among America's best

Premier health care is an important issue for many Americans, regardless of their age or current medical situation. Top-notch, reliable support in the case of a disease or accident is among the most important services a city can provide. People considering buying one of the houses for sale in New York, NY, should be heartened to know that one of the metro's hospitals was recently named among the best in the country.

New York-Presbyterian University Hospital was named as the seventh-best hospital in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report's Honor Roll, which evaluated nearly 5,000 facilities across the country.

The rankings are based on data collected about patient survival rates, staffing levels and on a survey of leading physician specialists.

New York-Presbyterian is a 2,261-bed general medical and surgical facility and had 106,459 admissions in the most recent year reported, according to the news source. In treatment-specific ratings, the hospital appeared in the top five in such categories as neurology and neurosurgery, psychiatry, cardiology, nephrology and urology.

Two other New York City hospitals - NYU Langone Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center - found spots on the Honor Roll, which made New York the only state to feature three facilities on the list.
