Los Angeles boasts many companies on Inc. 5000 list

Every year Inc. Magazine releases its Inc. 500/5000 list that recognizes and honors the fastest growing companies in the country. Those who are considering purchasing real estate in Los Angeles will be pleased to know that many organizations in Southland have landed on the 2012 list. For this reason, the LA area is a great place for job seekers, especially for individuals who are ready to work for one of the city's dynamic and expanding companies.

According to the publication, the fastest growing companies in America span all 50 states and 25 different industries with half of the winners bringing in revenues between $2 million and $10 billion. The fastest growing industry from 2008 to 2011 was media, expanding by 578 percent. Some of the other rapidly growing industries during this period include government services (145 percent), real estate (129 percent), security (123 percent), education (100 percent) and marketing and advertising (93 percent).

Los Angeles came in third after New York City and Washington DC for the number of businesses on the prestigious list - for a total of LA area 249 companies. In the state of California, there were 680 companies - the most in the country.

The fastest growing business in Los Angeles according to the publication is retail company, Nasty Gal. This one-of-a-kind online clothing store is number one for retail in the country. It started as a company on eBay and has now expanded to sells new and vintage clothing, accessories, jewelry and shoes online. It grossed $22.9 million in revenue in 2011 and employed 85 people.

The retailer is currently working toward continued expansion, looking for computer and software, copywriting, creative, human resources, technology and customer care talent. Anyone moving the LA area might consider applying to work at their office located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.

The second runner-up in La is advertising and marketing company, RateSpecial Interactive. Founded in 2007, it has experienced 8,593 percent growth and brought in $15.5 million in revenue in 2011. This boutique interactive advertising agency states that it focuses on traffic acquisition and product strategy. Next is Jackson Hunter Morris & Knight in the financial services industry. It is located in Newport Beach and seeks to help consumers and businesses pay down and manager their debts.

This year's list proves that Los Angeles continues to be a city full of opportunity and potential for its residents. A top place to work, live and play - LA is a wonderful city to call home.
