Henderson is a hot buy just outside of Vegas

Many looking for real estate in Las Vegas are now turning to the town adjacent to Sin City: Henderson. The town has grown to become the second-largest city in the state, and is currently considered to be the most in-demand for Las Vegas area home buyers.

In Las Vegas, the tight supply of homes is creating an even bigger demand for property just outside of the city limits. Home construction and sales of new houses in the area is up 26 percent from last year, according to The Associated Press. More than 2,700 homes have been sold in the area, but there are still an estimated 12,000 to 20,000 homes in foreclosure.

In Henderson, city officials have made community space a top priority in efforts to foster an active community that enjoys biking, hiking and other outdoor recreation. With the lowest property-tax rate and homes starting in the mid $100s, it’s no surprise buyers and investors alike are finding the city to be a great buy.

Henderson is a diverse community, home to several high-tech industries as well as a booming service industry.
