Get Your Foot in the Door with ZipRealty’s Open House Data

We’ve just added another great feature on our website – you can now see (and easily search for) homes  with upcoming open houses. We first piloted this feature in the San Francisco Bay Area, and hopeful home buyers loved it so much that we’re bringing it to the rest of our metros as fast as possible.

As we’ve mentioned before, visiting a home in person is a great way to get a better, more concrete sense of what you’re looking for in a home. Browsing homes online is great, but walking through a home and falling in love (or not) with its layout will immediately clarify your home search, even if you don’t end up buying the home you’re checking out.

Attending an open house with a local expert is especially helpful. A local Realtor® will be able to make observations about the neighborhood, point out potential repairs you or the seller would need to make, explain how this home might be a good fit for you situation, etc. Plus, if you visit a home with your agent before April 15th, you could win your choice of awesome prizes for your new or current home as part of our Drop in and Win spring sweepstakes!

How to Search by Open Houses on ZipRealty.com

1.      Load a Home Search – Load or create a search by entering the area you are looking into the search bar, specifying price, beds, and baths.

2. Show Only Open Houses – To the right of the persistent search bar, click on “More Search Options”. A drop-down menu will appear; under “Listing features”, find “Open houses” and select “Show Only”. Click “Search” again, and the results will be refreshed and will show only homes with open house data. You can choose to include open houses along with your other results as well.

3. Get Info About the Open House – To learn about a specific open house, click on the listing to open the home detail page. The Open House info (date range and times) will be displayed under the property photos next to an icon with an open house sign.

You can scroll through open houses in the List View, which will show you the dates and times of open houses. You can also view homes with upcoming open houses in the Map View, which will allow you to plot out your route. This is especially helpful if you’re going to be dropping into homes in a few different neighborhoods.

We’ll be expanding to even more metros soon – for now, open house data is available in the following metros:

·         Austin

·         Baltimore

·         Boston

·         Los Angeles

·         Nashville

·         Orange County

·         Phoenix

·         Portland

·         Raleigh

·         Sacramento

·         San Francisco Bay Area

·         Washington D.C.

This is just the first version of the open house data feature. As we work to evolve it, let us know what you’d like to see, or what information would be helpful for you – your feedback is invaluable!
