Downton-inspired Designs for Your Home

All of my friends have been raving about British period drama, Downton Abbey. Even my mother is watching it! I admit I haven’t seen a single episode yet, even though the second season just wrapped up this week. As a result, there have been quite a few home design blogs out there  featuring English-inspired décor, so that you can live in the Downton world while you wait for the next season.

Super-chic design blogger, Victoria Smith, collected some British-inspired blooms for her Downton post at equally super-chic SF Girl By Bay

Houzz has a few different Downton ideabooks put together right now, this one being a favorite of mine. You’d need a pretty big estate to bathe in front of that big window in private… or little to no inhibitions.

Apartment Therapy will give you a little fix with their roundup of New England’s Historic Homes and Gardens. Obviously, it’d be pretty expensive to replicate this, but consider making a space for a sitting room, especially if you have a fireplace or piano.

Although this next room is a bit over the top, upholstered chairs and delicate lighting fixtures can give you that vintage look without being too fussy. Thanks to Curbed for these photos of this Manhattan duplex.

These interiors are so beautiful that I may just need to watch the show!

Happy Friday!
