Dallas Back to School Fair offers one-stop back-to-school destination for parents and kids

The end of the summer might be a joyous occasion for parents and a terrible inevitability for children, but both adults and kids can enjoy an annual gathering to prepare for the start of a new school year. The 16th Annual Mayor's Back to School Fair will take place August 2, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fair Park's Automobile and Centennial Buildings, and promises to be a fun-filled event easily accessible to those who purchase one of the homes for sale in Dallas.

Various city departments, state agencies, nonprofit organizations and hundreds of volunteers help make this gathering a yearly success. Visitors have the opportunity to receive complimentary school supplies, medical screenings and information about health and social services. Meanwhile, kids can spend time with their peers enjoying book readings, games and interactive demos.

This fair is a free, public event available to local residents. Those who live in Dallas and meet certain eligibility requirements can attend this one-of-a-kind community festival.

Celebrate the start of the new school year with a trip to this year's event.
