3 great museums in San Francisco

Museums hold the cultural legacy and historical features of any metro area, and the institutions in San Francisco are no different than their counterparts across the United States. Homes for sale in the Bay Area are near three of the greatest museums in California, and are perfect places to take the kids on a hot summer day.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)

The SFMOMA is located at 151 Third Street, and has everything a modern art museum typically offers. Current exhibits include a special section on contemporary painting and a showcase on Mexican photography.

Palace of the Legion of Honor

This fine art museum stands at 100 34th Avenue, right by the medical center and the USS San Francisco Memorial in the northwestern part of the city. The institution currently features a collection of letters from Paris during the early 1900s and surrealism exhibit.

California Academy of Sciences

This natural history museum is among the largest in the world, and is situated at 55 Music Concourse Drive in Golden Gate Park. Here, you can experience the history of the animal and plant kingdoms, and children can even spend the night during sleepover events. On Thursdays, the museum offers cocktail and nightlife events to those over the age of 21 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
