Austin housing market creating a buzz in Texas
The number of homes for sale in Austin decreased in February 2012 as the central Texas real estate market rose 16 percent during the month, according to The Austin American-Statesman. Some experts predict this year could be one of the best for people to purchase property in the city.
"This year should prove to be the best year for housing in the past five for many areas across the country, especially those in Texas, and particularly in Austin," said Ed Friedman, a director in the Moody's Analytics office in West Chester, Pennsylvania, to the news source.
Friedman notes expansion by companies including Apple and Samsung could create more jobs across the city, leading people to find housing as they pursue career opportunities. However, home prices may rise as a result, which could make now the best time to find the best property values.
The news source reports that the median prices for homes in the city increased 3 percent from February 2011 to February 2012. Additionally, the state added over 26,000 jobs between January 2011 and January 2012, according to The Texas Workforce Commission.
The buzz around Austin may be growing as a result of these figures, so check out the properties available for the chance to join this developing community.
