Two aspects of my life led me to choose real estate as a career. The first is that, as a former teacher, I love learning new things and being challenged. I also enjoy meeting people, and educating them about what I have learned and about things for which I am passionate. The second factor is that, because of my husband's career, we have moved twelve times in our thirty years of marriage. This has given me a great understanding of what families deal with during the course of moving. Over the years, I realized that the more I knew what to expect, the more comfortable I became with the buying and selling process. One thing that was important was to be able to determine if our belongings would fit in any home we considered buying.
Being a real estate agent incorporates many of my previous experiences and interests. I get to meet wonderful people and help them buy or sell their homes. Negotiating contracts in a professional, ethical way for my clients is a challenge I enjoy. Because of my personal experiences with moving, I can empathize with the concerns that buyers and sellers often have. I work very hard to make sure that my clients have a positive real estate experience. To accomplish this, I educate clients about the market and the process of buying and selling to enable them to make the choices that are best for their family. For example, as an Accredited Staging Professional, I am able to help buyers see past a homeowner's furnishings and visualize their possessions in that home. Or, for a seller, I can help them arrange their furniture and decorative items to make it easier for a prospective buyer to bond with their home. I'm happy that my experiences with teaching and moving led me to choose real estate as a career!
In addition to being a real estate agent, I also enjoy visiting with friends and family, gardening, reading, decorative painting and kayaking. Collapse
